About

We are a house of artists and designers and previously hosted a show in our front room with our group that we called “Front of House”. In that project we emptied the room of all domestic trappings, attempting to stage it as a gallery analogous to countless other former domestic spaces in Brussels converted to galleries but retaining similar architectural features like the fireplace. In deliberately distancing the space from its usual use as a living room, both the arrangement and what was shown had nothing to do with domestic space. This time, we want to once again empty this room and start over with the aim of making a display space, but this time the display will in fact resemble a living room, but composed entirely of functional and decorative objects that we have made ourselves, displacing their mass-produced equivalents in the room currently. This is similar to a display we produced during our last project, a residency called “Talking from a kite”. We wanted to stage a working space for the opening, like a theatrical set, retaining only the most symbolically important things that we had been using. Some of the self-produced design objects we will show in the space this time include: lamps, stools, shelves, CNC-carved fixtures, ceramics, plus possibly a found selection of small antiques that we lack the technical capabilities to make ourselves.
