Lightcore

About

On the occasion of Brussels Design September and to celebrate the opening of the creative space on Rue Berthelot, the first collective exhibition will inaugurate the Oasis space.

Lightcore brings together twelve Belgian and French artists, designers, and technicians whose practices revolve around light, approached both as a function and as a conceptual material.

Here, light is presented as a language — an immaterial flow that reveals matter — oscillating between technological, contemplative, and aesthetic approaches.

The exhibition deliberately blurs the boundaries between functional object, artistic installation, and experimental device.

The works encompass a plurality of formats and gestures: sculptural lamps exploring texture and diffusion, interactive devices integrating screens or sensors, and hybrid assemblages where function gives way to sensory experience.

Some pieces explore the autonomy of the luminous object; others consider light as informational, programmable data capable of producing a narrative.

This creative dynamic is rooted in a specific context: a network of artists emerging from Belgium’s festive and cultural scene.

The energy that drives the production of events, parties, and festivals is transposed here into the exhibition space.

Technique becomes language, and material becomes an accomplice. Materials — whether collected, salvaged, or repurposed — carry the traces of their previous uses, as well as the imprint of a collective spirit and an economy of means.

Between inventive tinkering and technological mastery, Lightcore embraces a poetics of resourcefulness: one that transforms tools into narrative vectors, diverts objects from their original functions, and reconfigures materials to generate new stories.

It is within this weaving of gestures, ideas, and improvised systems that the creative force of this emerging generation comes to light.

By inhabiting this temporary laboratory space, they explore and merge festive time with exhibition time, making light a vector for encounter, transformation, and reflection.
