The Unusual

About

The Unusual is a new café/bar concept that opened its doors in January, right in the heart of Brussels.

By day it operates as a café, while in the evenings it becomes a hub for Belgian tourist activities (Pub Crawl, workshops) as well as private events (concerts, comedy nights).

The bar’s desire to integrate fragments of Brussels heritage has shaped the entire identity of the venue.

The interior design concept is based on a collection of old doors, stained glass windows, and handles salvaged from dismantled houses and office buildings — notably from the Oxy building, just 100m away. These elements were incorporated into a structure built from a reclaimed wooden framework.

The result is a unique blend: on the one hand, a vintage colour palette, and on the other, a patchwork of interior woodwork details, both of which inspired the graphic identity of this new meeting place in the city centre.
