The Moving Spirit
About
In 2020, the founders of the Ghent-based collective Stand van Zaken, Stefanie Everaert and Theo De Meyer, started to inhabit an abandoned greenhouse in Flanders.
This experience was the opportunity to discover new ways of occupying space playing with the boundaries of our domestic habits.
The research they propose to carry-out during a four-months lasting residency in Brussels, is in close relation with what they have been experiencing in the greenhouse and the fact that this is soon coming to an end.
What can life in a vast, climate-responsive space teach us about migratory living? What does it mean to inhabit spaces seasonally? And what tools do we create to facilitate this particular way of living?
All these questions will be part of the empirical experimentation and intuitive research that Stefanie and Theo will be setting up over the next few months in an attempt to enhance the feeling of freedom.
Following the announcement of the forthcoming sale of the greenhouse, the residence will offer a time to reflect on what has happened there and what to learn from it, while the exhibition space will be the place to pay tribute to this experience.
The exhibition opening on Thursday 25 September is the outcome of their residency.
