About

L'Atelier des Tropiques, located in the heart of the City of Brussels, is a place of exchange dedicated to ceramic creation through training courses, Open Space workshops, residencies and small showcase exhibitions. With its nomadic workshop, it travels to meet audiences unable to take part in its in-situ activities, such as schoolchildren, senior citizens, people with disabilities or the underprivileged, in collaboration with numerous structures such as Créahm, Globe Aroma and SAFA asbl. The association is also keen to promote environmentally-friendly citizen projects, such as land reclamation and the manufacture of Ollas with Skyfarms. As part of Design September, the asbl will be celebrating 7 years of activity and inviting curator Maëlle Delaplanche to design an exhibition on the bucolic theme with artist-in-residence Isabelle Bonté-Hessed2, who will be showing the first pieces of her current project in connection with the book “La Faute de l'abbé Mauret”. This work fuses art and literature, inviting viewers to plunge into a garden of blossoming knowledge. The second showcase will be taken over by the ArtBol ceramics cooperative, with an ensemble of exceptional pieces related to the art of the table. At the far end, the garden terrace will be occupied by Fatemeh and Frederic Deverchere, with abstract pieces evoking ecosystem-related landscapes.
