Arcuum, a bridge between art and design

About

At Atelier HD, we shape ceramic objects that inhabit space differently, not quite artworks, not quite functional design pieces.

Our playground lies at the intersection of art and design, a shifting territory where hands, materials, and forms engage in a free dialogue.

With ARCUUM, we wanted to explore this in-between. The word comes from the Latin arcus: an arch, a bridge, a passage.

For us, it symbolizes the link between two worlds , the emotion of a unique piece and the presence of an object created for living spaces.

ARCUUM is an invitation to cross over, to see interior objects differently when they are born from an artistic gesture.

We work with four hands, in a slow and physical rhythm. Clay is our starting point and often our guide. Nothing is automated: each piece goes through a long process of shaping, assembling, firing, and glazing. Time is part of the object. And that’s what makes each creation alive and unique.

Through ARCUUM, we want to show that design can be a form of art, and that a handcrafted gesture can transform a space.

Our pieces are made to last, to spark curiosity, and to create visual, emotional, and sometimes architectural, dialogue.

During the weekend of October 20–21, we will be exhibiting our work at 29th October, a beautifully store located in the heart of the Sablon district, one of Brussels’ most iconic and art-filled neighborhoods.

We’re grateful to 29th October for opening its doors to us and offering a space where ceramics can meet fashion.

Surrounded by timeless objects and carefully selected pieces, our work will find its place in a setting that reflects the same values we hold dear: authenticity, detail, and emotion.

This collaboration is part of our ARCUUM project, a bridge between art and design, and we’re thrilled to share it in such a meaningful and inspiring context.
