About
An iconic former customs building from the early 20th century, listed as Architectural Heritage, has recently been given new life.
Located in the vibrant Brussels Canal area near Tour & Taxis, the building has been transformed into a dynamic and accessible space where creativity, living, and working come together.
The project serves as a bridge between the past and the future, emphasizing community, sustainability, and a respectful approach to heritage.
The central public courtyard is the beating heart of the site: a place for meeting, knowledge exchange, and collaboration, where craftsmanship and innovation go hand in hand.
A2D architects, whose office is located in the building, are the driving force behind this creative hub and took on the design of the transformation.
Through their vision of collective living, working, and creating, they shaped the project.
One of the creative voices expressed in this context is that of Koen Van Guijze.
After more than 25 years of experience as a lighting designer, he decided to create his own lighting designs.
His brutalist yet contemporary Sofisticato collection, featuring wall, ceiling, and floor lamps, was immediately included in the portfolio of the Belgian design brand Serax.
Today, Van Guijze continues to develop unique lighting objects, often designed for specific locations or as collectible pieces.
His work has already been showcased on leading platforms such as Collectible and the Contemporary Design Market in Brussels.
We are open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until October 3, including weekends.
